Zendaya's Dune: Part Three look came from a London mechanic's garage label
Zendaya could be dressed by any luxury house on the planet, but for the new Dune: Part Three promo video she wore a look from Selasi, a small London label whose spring 2027 collection was staged in a mechanic's garage. Stylist Law Roach picked look three from the show: a sleeveless halter-neck top and barrel-legged trousers in sandy suede shades that nod to Arrakis's desert landscape.
The designer is Ronan McKenzie, and this was only her second runway presentation on the London Fashion Week schedule. The show was modeled not by professional models but by her inner circle, including her own mum, British Vogue contributing editor Zezi Ifore and entrepreneur Charlene Prempeh.
"Their presence underscored a central idea behind the collection: these clothes are intended to live beyond the runway," the show notes read. "Going Places is grounded in pieces that can move through different bodies, ages, and lives."
A co-sign that changes a career
Roach could commission custom pieces from any fashion house, and he has chartered private jets to get Zendaya into just-seen-on-the-runway couture. But he has made a point of championing emerging designers too. On the previous Dune press tour Zendaya wore Torisheju and Paolo Carzana, and she was an early supporter of Peter Do and Maximilian Davis's Ferragamo before that.
For a young designer, that kind of co-sign can crack open an industry that is notoriously hard to break into. McKenzie told Vogue: "The energy you put into something won't always lead to the outcome you imagine. But you still have to fight, keep going, restart and pick yourself up off the ground."
The label's other headline moment this season came when 59-year-old model Evelyn Effrim-Botchey was rediscovered on its runway and went on to walk Paris's most rarefied catwalks. Zendaya wore the Selasi look alongside Timothee Chalamet in the promotional video, and the collection's name, Going Places, is turning out to be a prophecy.
