Kim Kardashian thought Sarah Paulson's All's Fair voice was real
Sarah Paulson has spent months playing ruthless attorney Carrington Lane on All's Fair with a gravelly, Elvis-adjacent drawl - and Kim Kardashian thought the whole time that was just how her costar talks.
During an exclusive E! News interview promoting season two of their Hulu legal drama, Paulson put Kardashian on the spot over the mix-up, cracking up alongside the rest of the cast as she reenacted the character voice.
"She thinks that my voice on the show sounds like Elvis," Paulson said. "Because I'm doing a character voice and it's like this: 'One for the money, two for the show.'"
Kardashian admitted through laughter, "I thought it was her real voice." The SKIMS founder even confessed she assumed Paulson was hiding her natural voice in other roles, from Marcia Clark in The People vs. O.J. Simpson to Cordelia Foxx in American Horror Story. "I thought in your other characters you were holding it back," she said.
Paulson, 51, took the revelation in stride. "She didn't know it was a voice I was doing," she told E!. "She's like, 'She's got a really specific voice.'" As for the misunderstanding, Paulson finds it "down-right hilarious."
More courtroom drama ahead
With the accent confusion cleared up, the cast moved on to tease what season two of All's Fair brings for the women of the Grant, Ronson & Greene firm. "I think we're killers in our work and killers outside of work," Paulson teased. "I'm a killer either way."
Kardashian, 46, was quick to draw a line between the actress and her vicious character, joking, "I think your character is so insane. You're not as crazy as her."
Season two of All's Fair premieres Nov. 4 on Hulu.
