Elle Fanning starts Effie Trinket press tour in a music-box couture dress
Elle Fanning has started method dressing for her next big role, and she is not being subtle about it. At a Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping press event in London, the actor turned up in a pale pink Robert Wun couture gown that looks like Effie Trinket raided a music box.
The reference is impossible to miss. Trinket, the Capitol escort Elizabeth Banks turned into a camp icon in the original films, was pure theatrical excess, and Fanning's team is leaning into every bit of it. Her stylist Samantha McMillen pulled look 19 from Wun's fall 2026 couture collection: a lace-up corset and full tulle tea-length tutu, layered with a hardshell trompe l'oeil bodice with a sculpted, scalloped hem and open cups.
Vogue says Fanning "looked the part of a music box ballerina" in the pale pink dress. The headpiece is the real commitment: on top of the look sits a pink pillbox hat with a tiny ballerina balanced in passe, straight from Wun's runway styling. Fanning did soften two details for the carpet. She wore the skirt as a romantic tulle rather than the sharp, gravity-defying tutu, and swapped Wun's translucent spiked jelly clogs for pointe-shoe-pink Jimmy Choo pumps with gathered tulle.
What method dressing looks like in 2026
The look continues the method dressing wave that has turned press tours into mini costume parades, matching an actor's wardrobe to the character they are promoting. Vogue frames the London appearance as the first real sign Fanning will "go all in" on Effie's avant-garde maximalism across the coming weeks.
