Taylor Swift was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame last night, becoming the youngest artist in its history to receive the honor at 36. She did it in a burgundy Raisa Vanessa velvet minidress that Vogue called "almost Hocus Pocus-worthy," paired with Jimmy Choo heels and a little backcombing of the hair.
The styling was a deliberate nod to her past. Swift first shot to fame as a teenage country singer before crossing into pop with 1989 in 2014, and the backcombed volume read as a subtle wink to her Nashville roots, even as she skipped the Dolly Parton curls and bedazzled flares for something more contemporary.
The induction caps a record-breaking stretch. In September she became the most-awarded artist in MTV VMA history, and now she holds the title of youngest-ever Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee.
A return to classic Taylor
Lately Swift has leaned into an edgier wardrobe of leather jackets and slip dresses, a shift Vogue credits in part to her friendship with Dakota Johnson.
