Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce cut a $7M carousel and a pond from their wedding
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s $30 million wedding at Madison Square Garden was already a spectacle, but it could have been even wilder. New details reveal the couple scrapped a two-tiered carousel and a man-made pond from the original plans — one because it was too expensive, the other because it was too dangerous.
A source told the Daily Mail that the $7 million carousel was cut for budget reasons. Even scaled down to a single story, the insider claimed, it would have run $3.5 million. Instead, Swift, 36, and Kelce, 37, settled for a large tent stocked with carnival games, including corn-hole and mini-golf.
The pond was a different problem. Planned to sit directly beneath the altar where the couple exchanged vows, it was dropped because it would “require too much engineering.”
“The edges weren’t tall enough and it would be really easy to fall over,” the insider claimed.
A wedding that still delivered
The cuts hardly dulled the night. The pair tied the knot on July 3 in front of 1,000 guests, including Selena Gomez, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Mariska Hargitay and Ed Sheeran, with Adam Sandler officiating and Swift walking the aisle in a Christian Dior Haute Couture gown.
The Garden was transformed into an “ethereal garden,” complete with food stations, bars and three specialty cocktails — “The Gym Teacher,” “The English Teacher” and “The T&T” — each served with its own signature ice cube. The menu featured lobster, chicken and French fries.
Kelce, for his part, has already called the wedding “the best night of my life.” Speaking to ESPN, he gushed that marrying Swift was “more than I could have ever dreamed it to be,” citing “all the people that showed up, and the amount of love that was in the air.”
The morning after, Page Six obtained exclusive photos of the extravagant decor being wheeled out of the arena — custom monogrammed items, trees and large green furnishings from a “big gazebo.”
