"I still have manic episodes." Selena Gomez opened up about her bipolar disorder.
Selena Gomez has opened up about her bipolar disorder. The 33-year-old singer said she didn't know her exact diagnosis for a long time, but always felt like "something was wrong" with her. She shared this on the podcast "Friends Keep Secrets," hosted by her husband, Benny Blanco.
Gomez admitted that she still experiences symptoms of the disease, but now she can track them, so she lives more "freely": "I can proudly say that I have periods of mania. I'm not ashamed of it at all, because now I can notice them faster."
However, Selena's husband, Benny Blanco, added: "Sometimes she realizes it's happening after it's happened, and sometimes she doesn't even remember it happened." Gomez credited her husband for helping her recover: "It's helpful to have a partner who understands and supports you through this situation."
As a reminder, Selena Gomez first revealed her diagnosis in 2020. At the time, the singer admitted that due to her illness, she had significantly reduced her filming schedule and was barely making music.
In 2024, Selena began dating music producer Benny Blanco. Gomez's appearance changed noticeably during this relationship: for a long time, fans even suspected the singer of using Ozempic and having plastic surgery. A year into their relationship, Selena accepted Blanco's proposal and married him. Shortly before, the singer revealed that she was unable to conceive a child on her own, so she and Blanco were considering adoption.
Selena now regularly appears on her husband Benny Blanco's podcast, "Friends Keep Secrets." One of Gomez's appearances on the show even became controversial: after her husband Benny showed off his dirty feet on the podcast, she kissed his feet on camera. The couple's followers then accused the singer and her husband of uncleanliness and even called on Selena to divorce the "disgusting" Blanco.
