Jeff Goldblum and Colman Domingo join Benny Safdie's 'Lizard Music' voice cast
Benny Safdie's Lizard Music just got a lot more star-studded. Jeff Goldblum, Colman Domingo, Rachel McAdams and David Krumholtz have all boarded the Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists live-action/CGI hybrid in voice roles, Deadline reports.
They join an already stacked cast led by Dwayne Johnson, who also produces. Theo Leber plays the film's young hero, with Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, Regina Hall, Andrew Dice Clay and Arya Parvathi also confirmed.
Safdie wrote the script based on Daniel Pinkwater's novel of the same name. The story follows a boy left to his own devices who stumbles onto a secret late-night broadcast of lizards playing otherworldly music. That discovery leads him to an eccentric old man nicknamed The Chicken Man — played by Johnson — and his beloved companion, an 85-year-old chicken named Claudia. The two become kindred spirits and set off together on a hunt for a hidden society.
Johnson has described the project's energy in colorful terms, calling it "'Willy Wonka' from the mind of Benny Safdie" at D23, where he also detailed a five-hour makeup process to play a 70-year-old.
Domingo is fresh off an Emmy-winning run and a double 2026 Emmy nomination for Euphoria Season 3 and The Four Seasons Season 2, plus film roles in Antoine Fuqua's Michael and Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day. Goldblum, recently the Wizard of Oz in Wicked: For Good, brings an Oscar-nominated directing credit of his own to the table.
Safdie produces alongside UA's Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt, and Seven Bucks Productions' Dwayne Johnson. No release date has been announced yet.
