"I'm proud of my work identifying people who cause harm." Blake Lively on her loss in her sexual harassment case against director Justin Baldoni.
Blake Lively, who yesterday lost her harassment lawsuit against "It Ends With Us" director Justin Baldoni, commented on the judge's decision. The actress published several posts on social media, calling the case "incredibly painful."
Blake Lively, 38, began by thanking the court for its decision in the lawsuit, which will now allow her to present the case to the jury and "tell my full story at trial." The actress intends to continue to defend her rights in court "for her own sake and for those who don't have the same opportunity."
At the latest hearing, the court dismissed 10 of Blake Lively's 13 claims against Justin Baldoni. Among the dismissed charges were harassment, defamation, and conspiracy. Her claims for breach of contract, stalking, and aiding and abetting stalking will be heard in court.
"The last thing I wanted in life was a lawsuit, but I filed this lawsuit because of the constant harassment I have faced and continue to face for demanding safe working conditions for myself and others in my personal and professional life."
The "Gossip Girl" star also commented on the hate she received during the controversial lawsuit, calling it "digital abuse." "The physical pain of digital abuse is very real. It's abuse. And it's everywhere. Not just in the news, but in your communities and schools," Lively wrote.
During the scandalous trial, many internet users and even celebrities sided with Justin Baldoni, whom Blake Lively accused of sexual harassment on set early last year. The director presented evidence of his innocence, leading online commentators to believe that Lively had flirted with him, thereby completely tarnishing her reputation. Meanwhile, the actress stated that she was proud to have spoken out and would "never stop" contributing to the fight to "expose systems and individuals who seek to harm, shame, silence, and exact revenge on victims."
"I wouldn't have been able to fight without the countless people who went before me—and those who still stand with us—making laws, pushing for social change, initiating discussions, organizing rallies, working in the private and public sectors, risking and sometimes losing everything for the safety of others in all walks of life. Thank you. To all of you," Blake concluded.
As a reminder, in late 2024, Blake Lively accused her partner and director of the film "It Ends With Us," Justin Baldoni, of sexual harassment. She claimed that during the film's production, Baldoni visited her in her dressing room while she was naked, showed her photos of his naked wife, and continually added new intimate scenes to the script. In response, the director accused Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, of defamation and filed a $400 million lawsuit against them, which the court dismissed. He claimed that the actress abused the opinion of her husband and her best friend, Taylor Swift, by constantly changing the script. She also rewrote the film's key "rooftop scene," pressuring Baldoni to praise her in front of her husband and the singer. He also filed a $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times, which first reported on his harassment of Lively. The day before, a court dismissed Blake's key lawsuit against Baldoni.
Blake Lively is married to actor Ryan Reynolds. They have four children.
