Anne Hathaway addressed earlier online rumors that she had a facelift. The 43-year-old actress also explained why she actually looked different during her recent public appearances.

"I would prefer never to comment on anything, to live in the shadows and not attract attention to myself, but the rumors have become so loud that it becomes necessary to simply speak my truth. No, I have not made any serious medical decisions," she said in an interview with Elle, adding that she wouldn't rule out such a possibility in the future.

Hathaway says the lift she's seen on recent red carpets is actually the result of a little trick her hairstylist, Orlando Pita, uses: two hidden braids at her temples that create tension on the skin. "It's just two braids," she said.

Rumors that Anne Hathaway had undergone plastic surgery first surfaced in the spring of 2025. Then, the actress appeared at a Ralph Lauren fashion show, and users noticed that she looked different. Another wave of discussion about Hathaway's "new" face began after the release of the trailer for her new film. Fans noticed that in shots of Hathaway screaming and crying, her facial expressions were limited. Following this, calls were made on social media to "ban actors from Botox."
