Princess Charlene took advantage of her "white privilege" at a meeting with Pope Leo XIV.
Prince Albert II of Monaco and his wife, Princess Charlene, met with Pope Leo XIV along with their children. For the meeting, Charlene took advantage of the privilege afforded to Catholic royals by wearing a white dress.
On March 28, the head of the Catholic Church visited the Principality of Monaco for the first time in over 500 years. Leo XIV was greeted at Monaco Cathedral by the Principality's royal family. In addition to meeting with Albert II and his family, the Pope is scheduled to meet with the Catholic community at the cathedral and hold mass at the Monaco stadium.
According to the rules, all women must wear black at meetings with the head of the Catholic Church, except for representatives of Catholic royal families. For the first time since her marriage, Princess Charlene, along with her daughter Gabriella, took advantage of this "white privilege," which only eight women in the world currently enjoy.
As a reminder, Princess Charlene received her title after her 2008 wedding to Prince Albert II, the son of Hollywood actress Grace Kelly and Monaco's crown prince, Rainier III. The couple is currently raising 12-year-old twins, Jacques and Gabriella. Rumors have been rife recently that the couple is separated, and Charlene is even considering divorce due to Albert II's illegitimate children.
Several years ago, Charlene was forced to leave her family after contracting a dangerous infection while traveling in South Africa. The princess spent nine months undergoing treatment away from her family, but then returned to Monaco.
