"I don't want to leave the house anymore." Barry Keoghan spoke about being bullied because of his appearance.
Irish actor Barry Keoghan, known for his roles in Saltburn, Dunkirk, and The Banshees of Inisherin, has revealed that online bullying over his appearance has become so severe that he has stopped leaving his house and is avoiding public events.
In an interview with SiriusXM radio, the 33-year-old actor admitted to facing bullying on social media. "There's a lot of hate online. A lot of insults about the way I look, and it's gotten to the point where it's become too much. Everyone goes through that... but it's made me withdraw. I've started avoiding people, I don't want to go to events, I don't want to go out," Deadline quotes Keoghan as saying.
The actor says he tries to stay away from social media, but after premieres or events, he sometimes checks in to see the public's reaction, which is usually negative. He's particularly concerned that it could affect his work. "But when it starts to affect your creativity, it becomes a problem, because you don't even want to be on screen anymore," Barry admitted.
Rumors of a dramatic change in Keoghan's appearance have been circulating since early 2026. After his appearance at the Burberry show during London Fashion Week, fans noticed a noticeable change in the actor's facial features: his jaw became sharper, his cheekbones became more defined, and his lips became fuller. Speculation immediately surfaced on social media that Keoghan had resorted to fillers.
The harassment peaked after his split from singer Sabrina Carpenter, due to Keoghan's infidelity. Despite another theory that their split was due to busy schedules, the singer's fans still bring up the actor's infidelity, while also harshly criticizing his appearance, which they believe has noticeably changed, hinting at surgery or injections.
Interestingly, his affair with Sabrina actually began with infidelity: for her, Barry left his girlfriend, Alison Sandro, who had just given birth to their son, Brando. Now three years old, Keoghan says he and his ex-girlfriend maintained a good relationship for his sake.
Despite his desire to stay out of the spotlight, Barry still maintains a busy schedule: he recently starred in the Netflix film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man and is also set to play Ringo Starr in Sam Mendes's upcoming Beatles biopic.
