"Maybe it was just lust." Zayn Malik said he "never loved" ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid.

Zayn Malik expressed doubts that he ever truly loved his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid, with whom he shares a daughter. On the podcast Call Her Daddy, the 33-year-old singer stated that he reconsidered his feelings for the model and realized he was likely simply attached to her.

"I used to think it was love, but over the years I've realized I might have been wrong. Maybe it was just passion. Or something else. But I'm not sure it was true love," he noted.

Malik was quick to add that the lack of romantic feelings doesn't diminish his gratitude and respect for Gigi—especially for their daughter, Khai: "I want to be clear: I will always love Gigi for giving me the opportunity to become a father. She will always be dear to me, but I'm not sure if I was truly in love with her. Because if I were, I would be the best version of myself in our relationship."

As a reminder, supermodel Gigi Hadid and former One Direction singer Zayn Malik began dating in 2015 and subsequently broke up and got back together several times. Their final breakup occurred in 2021, a year after the birth of their daughter. The reason was a heated argument between Zayn and the model's mother. In October 2021, Yolanda Hadid arrived at the couple's home unannounced, angering Malik. Yolanda later claimed he hit her several times and then locked her in a closet. She filed a police report against the singer, who was found guilty of domestic violence and ordered to undergo anger management classes. Although Gigi sided with her mother in the dispute, she and Zayn eventually mended their relationship and sometimes even celebrate holidays together as a family.

Hadid, 30, is currently dating Hollywood actor Bradley Cooper. The couple has been together for over two years and is rumored to be getting married soon. According to insiders, 51-year-old Cooper, who has an eight-year-old daughter, Leah, with supermodel Irina Shayk, recently proposed to his beloved. As for Zayn, he's single and not currently looking for a relationship.
