The Norwegian Crown Princess's son has been arrested on new charges amid the scandal surrounding her ties to billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
The Crown Princess of Norway's eldest son, Marius Borg Høiby, has been arrested on new charges, Trondheim24 reports. Meanwhile, the princess herself has found herself at the center of a major scandal over her alleged ties to billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, convicted of sex trafficking and child molestation.
29-year-old Marius was arrested on the evening of February 1 in Oslo. He is suspected of causing bodily harm, threatening someone with a knife, and violating a court-ordered non-contact order. Specific details of the incident have not been released. Police asked the court to remand Høiby in custody for four weeks, fearing repeat offenses.
It's worth noting that the arrest occurred on the eve of Høiby's trial, where he faces 32 charges, including four counts of rape, threats to kill, and drug trafficking. Marius pleaded guilty to causing bodily harm to his ex-girlfriend while under the influence of drugs, but denied the remaining charges. The trial will take place on February 3, and if found guilty, he faces up to 16 years in prison.
Meanwhile, Crown Princess Mette-Marit herself is being hotly debated online: her name has been discovered in new files linked to the notorious billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. As The Guardian reports, the 52-year-old princess's name appears in the documents over a thousand times, and these aren't just indirect references, but personal correspondence.
It's known that Mette-Marit and Epstein communicated for several years, from 2011 to 2014. They maintained a warm relationship, exchanging congratulations and advice, and even met several times. For example, documents indicate that in 2013, the princess spent four days at Jeffrey's Palm Beach home with a friend and also saw him in the company of her children. Furthermore, in one letter, she confessed to him that she was "attracted" to him, and in others, she called him "sweet" and "kindhearted."
Mette-Marit has already responded to the details that have emerged. Her words were published by the royal palace: "I acted recklessly and deeply regret having had any contact with Epstein. It's simply disgraceful."
It's worth remembering that before her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, Mette-Marit was an ordinary waitress. Marius, in turn, was born from her relationship with Morten Borg, a man with multiple convictions for drug-related offenses. The young man is not officially a member of the royal family.
