Britney Spears injured herself after doing a backflip off a yacht amid debate about her mental health
Britney Spears injured herself again while recording a video amid debate about her mental health. Many online believe it worsened following the release of her ex-husband Kevin Federline's controversial memoir, in which he implied she was mentally unstable.
Britney Spears injured her leg while celebrating her 44th birthday in Mexico. She posted a video on Instagram* and explained in the caption that she injured herself while doing a backflip off a yacht. In the video, Britney posed in a hot pink bikini on a yacht. The footage cut out as she began to unzip her bikini. Britney later deleted the video, likely facing further criticism.
Insiders told the Daily Mail that the singer's family is concerned about her condition, and she has virtually cut off all communication with them: "It's a nightmare knowing that events are happening that could put her in danger. We can't do anything to help her."
In November, fans were discussing new photos of Britney Spears: paparazzi snapped the singer in a parking lot after visiting a restaurant. Online commenters thought she looked "overweight" and criticized the singer for holding a glass of champagne, amid recent drunk driving charges. Sources claimed her condition worsened due to her ex-husband Kevin Federline's new memoir.
In his memoir, Federline claimed that Spears entered her sons' room with a knife while they were sleeping. He also claimed that the singer took a bath with one of her sons when he was already a teenager. Britney later responded to the memoir, claiming that all of Federline's claims were lies and that she only wanted to be with her children. Interestingly, her other ex-husbands stood up for Britney and spoke out against Federline.
As a reminder, Federline and Spears married in 2004 and divorced three years later. They had two sons together: Sean Preston and Jayden James. After the divorce, Kevin received custody of the sons, as the singer was declared incompetent. She then began paying child support and supported her ex-husband for nearly 19 years. However, the singer recently stopped making payments, leading many to believe he released the memoir to "cash in" on Spears's name.
In 2008, after a nervous breakdown, Britney was placed under conservatorship, and for many years her life was completely controlled by her father, Jamie. It was only in 2021 that the singer was released from the conservatorship. After her release, she began posting strange videos and nude photos, causing fans to worry about her mental state. The singer herself claimed that during the conservatorship, she seemed to lose touch with herself: she couldn't move or dance for several months. However, it was dancing, which many now consider silly, that helped her "remember how to fly."
