He threatened to call immigration and caused a disturbance after Jeremy Renner's ex-girlfriend accused him of inappropriate behavior. The actor responded.
38-year-old Chinese model and director Yi Zhou, who recently dated and collaborated with 54-year-old Jeremy Renner, accused him of intimidation and inappropriate behavior.
According to Yi Zhou, who filmed the documentary "Disney Chronicles" featuring Renner, the actor first contacted her in June, sending her photos of himself, including intimate ones. "He's exhibited this behavior, as many claim, before," she noted. Renner, however, managed to convince Zhou of his sincerity. She explained, "He said he'd been single for a long time and was now open to a serious relationship. I believed in him, in the power of love, and in the possibility of redemption."
The Avengers star and the director developed a personal and professional relationship, but ultimately, according to Zhou, Renner not only denied the affair but also refused to promote her project, despite a written agreement. Zhou herself, however, spoke openly about her relationship with Jeremy and even posted a photo of them together on social media. 
However, judging by the accusations of the model and director, this relationship was not a happy one. Zhou admitted that it took her "a long time" to "pluck up the courage" to speak out about the "pain and humiliation" she suffered. Among other things, Renner constantly sent her indecent photos and videos. He even sent her one pornographic video with the text, "Oh, yeah? Is this okay???" Zhou claims she has a whole collection of similar photos and GIFs from Jeremy.
As proof, she provided screenshots of her correspondence with the actor, blurring out the graphic images. Zhou also posted a photo of a naked male torso on her Stories*, claiming Renner sent her the photo, though she hadn't asked for it. "I didn't try to contact him; he was the one who pursued me. I didn't even know his name, I've never seen any of his films. He used me first, and then disowned me and our work," the director insists.
However, the problems didn't stop with inappropriate behavior. According to Zhou, Renner behaved inappropriately and made her fear for her life. One time, for example, he became extremely drunk during a work meeting at his home. "I was discussing medical logistics, and then he downed a bottle of wine alone, got angry, and started yelling angrily. This went on for about two hours," Zhou said.
She said she had to "lock herself in her room to protect herself" and start "praying that he wouldn't come to her at night because he was so angry." Just in case, she sent her geolocation to her team, her parents, and her colleagues at Disney in case anything happened to her.
“When I spoke to him privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave decently and respect me as a woman and as a director, he threatened to call ICE on me, which deeply shocked and frightened me,” Zhou said, adding that the “misinformation and intimidation” caused her “personal and reputational harm.”
After Zhou and Renner's professional and personal relationship had soured, she sent Jeremy a WhatsApp message saying, "Go to hell... You're a pig... You use every app to send dick pics," to which the actor replied, "Immigration will be notified of your..." Zhou declined to disclose the rest of the correspondence.
It's worth noting that Zhou publicly announced her relationship with Renner back in mid-October. At the time, she praised him for his "humility" and "willingness to grow."
Jeremy Renner has already responded to Yi Zhou's statements. He categorically denied all of her accusations: "The allegations are completely inaccurate and untrue."
