Divorce, depression, death: what is known about the last days of Janis Timma's life
The circumstances of the last days of the life of Anna Sedokova's ex-husband, Latvian basketball player Janis Timma, who committed suicide in Moscow the day before, have become known.
After the singer announced her breakup with 32-year-old Timma (recall that this happened last September), the athlete tried to improve relations with his wife. Yanis published messages to 42-year-old Sedokova on his Instagram*, after which she even hinted at a reunion on social networks. And literally a few days before his suicide, he posted a photo of Anna's youngest son Hector from a previous relationship, accompanying the frame with a heart-shaped emoticon.
The press reported that the athlete had applied for a tourist visa twice in a row, for a total period from October 25 to January 22. At the same time, he periodically posted depressive stories* on social media, hinting at his ex-wife and videos with packs of sedative pills. And on December 9, it became known that the court had officially dissolved the couple's relationship.
A few days later, Timma checked into a small hotel in an old five-story building on Sergei Makeev Street, not far from Sedokova's house. Janis's stay here was paid for until December 16.
On December 16, around midnight, the intercom camera recorded Timma with a paper cup in his hand trying to get inside the alleged home of the artist, who had a birthday that day. The athlete was shaking, staggering and recording voice messages on his phone. Some time later, his body with signs of asphyxiation was found in the entrance of his hostel. Nearby were the same cup and phone, on the screen of which Timma left a recording asking to call Anna.
According to acquaintances, Timma was having a hard time dealing with his breakup with Sedokova. He has also been experiencing financial difficulties lately. The previously promising NBA player left BC Khimki in a scandal in February 2021, and was subsequently unable to sign lucrative contracts. In his home country, he also had child support obligations for his son from his first marriage.
The couple officially registered their marriage in the fall of 2020. Last September, Sedokova admitted that their breakup had been brewing for about two years, and the spouses "tried to fight" for their relationship. After the news of Timma's death, she posted a video on social media in which she tearfully stated that she had "lived in hell for two years."
