Olivi Mann Becomes Mother for Second Time Amid Breast Cancer Battle
Actress Olivia Munn, who is battling an aggressive form of breast cancer, has become a mother for the second time. The 44-year-old star of the film "X-Men: Apocalypse" and her 41-year-old husband John Mulaney have welcomed a daughter. Olivia shared the good news on her Instagram* and said that the child was born through surrogacy.
Mann wrote that the daughter was born on September 14 and the couple decided to name her May, which means "plum" in Chinese (Olivia has Chinese roots). The actress noted that it was difficult for her to decide on surrogacy, but she can now carry a child herself. Previously, the star postponed cancer treatment in order to freeze her eggs before a hysterectomy.
"I have experienced so many emotions over not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met our surrogate, we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding that I knew I had found an angel in my life. Words cannot express my gratitude for holding our baby girl for 9 months and making our dreams come true. I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon, for making the journey to be with us," Mann wrote.
Last April, Olivia Munn learned she had an aggressive form of breast cancer and worked with her team of doctors to develop a treatment plan. Over the first few months, the actress underwent several surgeries, including a double mastectomy. In November 2023, she began the second phase of treatment, which involved putting her body into menopause. This spring, Olivia had her uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries removed.
This summer, the actress married comedian John Mulaney, whom she had been dating since 2021. The couple have a two-year-old son, Malcolm.
