Three Dresses and a Five-Meter Veil: New Photos and Details from Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Kapleau's Wedding
Miss Universe 2012 winner Olivia Culpo has revealed new photos from her wedding and shared details of the celebration.
Olivia Culpo, 32, married 28-year-old American football player Christian McCaffrey on June 30. She wore three dresses at the ceremony, with the first one being almost completely covered and the third one having a short, transparent skirt and a corset.
The wedding took place in Olivia's home state of Rhode Island, the same state she represented at the 2012 Miss USA pageant. The first dress she wore down the aisle was a Dolce & Gabbana gown with a scoop neckline, long sleeves, and a buttoned back. She covered her head with a lace-trimmed veil that was nearly five meters long and wore 15-carat De Beers diamond earrings. In an interview with Vogue, she said she didn't want it to "overshadow" her: "Marriage for me is a vow. I didn't want the dress to be sexual in any way. It was meant to complement me, not overwhelm me."
The second dress that the bride chose was also from Dolce & Gabbana, but a little more revealing, in the Empire style, with a high waist and open shoulders. Its neckline was decorated with a hand-embroidered flower.
The third dress that the bride wore had a corset and a sheer short skirt. Olivia Culpo adorned her neck with a white bow and hid her hands behind long silk gloves. She danced in it while guests showered them with confetti (they say it was biodegradable).
Rumors of an affair between Olivia and Christian appeared in May 2019, and in April 2023, the couple announced their engagement. As Olivia Culpo herself said, her lover had been preparing for several months to propose to her, and she did not even know about it, since she believed that he was not yet ready for such a step.
