Model Elle Macpherson has revealed that she has been regularly attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for 20 years.
The supermodel gave up alcohol shortly before turning 40. "I just wanted a break, to be honest, and it was a fantastic time for me to sort out a lot of things I hadn't had time for," she was quoted as saying on the show Fitzy & Wippa by the Daily Mail.
Macpherson noted that giving up alcohol changed her whole life: she said that otherwise she might not be here at all. The 60-year-old model admitted that as a result, her life became joyful and free. The model did not have any particular problems due to alcohol in her life, but she had an affair with Brian Burgess, who served time in prison for drug smuggling.
Elle Macpherson rose to fame in the 1990s. Last year, she was included in the list of the richest models in the world. She took sixth place in the ranking with a fortune of $94 million. She is also known for her acting work: for example, she starred in several episodes of the sitcom Friends, playing a dancer and roommate of Joey Tribbiani.
