Kate Moss imitates Marilyn Monroe's iconic look in Charlotte Tilbury advertising campaign
Kate Moss has repeated the iconic image of Marilyn Monroe from the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes in a new advertising campaign for Charlotte Tilbury. In the footage, the supermodel, who turned 50 the day before, appeared in a pink off-the-shoulder dress, long gloves and the same jewelry that Monroe wore. The look was completed with a 1950s-style hairstyle.
The photo shoot was done for an advertising campaign for Hollywood Beauty Icons lipsticks; in addition to Moss, model Jourdan Dunn also took part in it.
In the same image, Marilyn Monroe appears in the 1953 musical comedy by Howard Hawks. The scene in which her character Lorelei Lee sings the song "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" is considered one of the most famous in film history. It is interesting that, although this film is one of the brightest in Marilyn’s career, it was he who secured the actress’s reputation as a frivolous blonde.
In 1985, Madonna repeated this scene in her video for the song Material Girl.
