Selena Gomez starred for the cover of Vogue and said that she dreams of becoming a mother
Selena Gomez became the heroine of a cover story in the January issue of the Mexican version of Vogue magazine and spoke in an interview about the new album and the desire to become a mother. The shooting took place in the studio, where Selena tried on looks from Chopova Lowena, Tory Burch, Tom Ford, Jacquemus, Marc Jacobs, Schiaparelli and posed for photographer Michael Bailey-Gates.
The singer told how the popularity she encountered as a child turned out for her. "When you get recognition at a young age, sometimes it can hinder your mental development a little. I think it definitely stunted my growth for a while.”
She shared that she was able to resist the danger of being “stuck in the moment” by doing what was important to her with career breaks. But at the same time, even just walking through the forest meant that there would be four guards standing behind her. The influence of the years she spent surrounded by adults, and then the scrutiny and recognition that came to her as a teenager, soon reached a critical level and led to health problems.
“Self-care is something that has been very difficult for me for a long time,” says Gomez. “It's something that has helped me find a routine that keeps me focused.”
The singer notes that over time she began to “feel comfortable” and now "prevents people from bursting the bubble" around her. She no longer feels the pressure to be perfect and wants to help others through this journey, as evidenced by numerous charitable projects in support of mental health.
Selena shared her plans for new music and is ready to please fans with the imminent release of a new album. She had a long break between records, but there was a reason for it. "I had nothing to write about because I was so used to writing sad girl music. And I love those kinds of songs, but I didn't experience anything that would tear me apart. I want to try to find ways to make good pop music, with a message that actually means something."
She found that the resulting songs were happy and uplifting. "Freedom. This is the main theme of this album. From the connections I had when I was 20 years old. I didn’t write a single sad song for this album.”
Selena recently announced an affair with producer and songwriter Benny Blanco, who was coldly received by the star's fans, noting that she deserves better. The singer called her lover “the best she’s ever been with.” However, whether this relationship lasts or not, there is one thing Selena Gomez, 31, is looking forward to: becoming a mother. This is what she says is the main purpose of her life. But “not anytime soon,” she adds, laughing.
