Nicole Kidman, who became the face of the Balenciaga fashion house, faced criticism from netizens. The actress’s decision was condemned due to last year’s scandal with an advertising campaign for which children posed with BDSM paraphernalia: it was seen as promoting pedophilia.

The footage of the new advertising campaign depicted children posing with BDSM paraphernalia, and in the photo with Isabelle Huppert, Nicole Kidman and Bella Hadid, court documents were noticed on articles of child abuse and justifying child pornography.
This caused widespread criticism online: Balenciaga began to “cancel” and terminate contracts with the brand, and deprive Demna Gvasalia of privileges: he personally apologized. The photographer Gabriele Galimberti, who worked on the shoot, was also accused of the scandal: they began to threaten him with physical harm online. The photographer stated that this was his first experience as a fashion advertising photographer, so he was not trusted to choose either the theme of the campaign or its style, which was approved by the brand itself.
