Lionel Messi's 'Messi and the Giants' trailer features Luck Ra's theme song
Lionel Messi is turning his soccer story into a full-blown fantasy, and the first teaser for Messi and the Giants landed Friday (Oct. 2) at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga in Spain — with Argentine hitmaker Luck Ra supplying the theme song.
The track is called “Vamos, Vamos, Vamos,” and it plays over the teaser. Luck Ra is a four-time Billboard Argentina Hot 100 chart-topper, so the song arrives with serious Latin-pop credentials. The first-look presentation screened before more than 3,000 fans in the convention’s Hall M, giving the crowd an early taste of the show’s mythology, characters and music.
The Disney sports-fantasy series follows Leo, a 12-year-old boy who becomes trapped in an alternate reality ruled by giants. To find his way home, he has to “compete in high-stakes, soccer-like battles using powerful ‘orbs,’ defeat legendary giants, and restore the fractured realms of ‘Iko,’” according to the official synopsis.
The twist: unlike everyone else, Leo can’t use the world’s code powers to supercharge his game. Instead he relies on skill, teamwork and determination, which turns the story into an underdog adventure about courage, perseverance and believing in yourself.
Argentinian actor Milo Burgess-Webb voices Leo. Messi, who executive produces the series, appeared as part of the Comic-Con panel alongside Sony Pictures Television’s Lacey Stanton and Bryan Korn, Atlantis Studios director Dan Creteur and Sony Music Vision’s Sergi Reitg.
