The lawyer for the eldest biological daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt explained why Shiloh decided to renounce her father's surname. This is reported by the tabloid Page Six.
According to lawyer Peter Levine, 18-year-old Shiloh dropped the last name of her father, 60-year-old Brad Pitt, due to "painful events" that happened in her life earlier. The exact circumstances behind the decision are not specified. The girl's lawyer also denied the news that she herself published an official renunciation of her last name in the newspaper.
"Shiloh Jolie did not announce her name change to the media, and all press reports about it are false," Peter said. "As Shiloh's attorney, I was required to issue a legal notice because California law requires that anyone who wants to change their name do so. That is what was published in the Los Angeles Times, as required."
The lawyer also noted that the media "should be more careful in their reporting, especially when writing about a young woman who made an independent and important decision after painful events and is simply following the legal process."
Earlier, a Daily Mail source said that Shiloh's decision was due to "a history of abuse and violations of the victim's rights." Recall that this spring, Angelina Jolie said that Brad Pitt had used physical violence against her even before the infamous quarrel on the plane that led to their divorce.
