Actor Kevin McNally, best known for his role as Mr. Gibbs in Pirates of the Caribbean, was arrested in Los Angeles after being accused of domestic violence. This was reported by The Sun.
He was detained on suspicion of causing injury to a certain woman who was his current or former spouse, cohabitant or mother of his child.
Later, the 67-year-old actor was released on bail in the amount of 40 thousand pounds sterling (almost 5 million rubles). The actor’s wife, Phyllis Logan, stated that she did not know about her husband’s arrest, and it is not known who his victim was. He married Phyllis Logan in 2011, and they have lived together since 1994. They have a common son, David. The actor also has a daughter, Rachel, with ex-girlfriend Stevie Harris.
Kevin McNally is not the first actor from the franchise to be accused of domestic violence. For several years, the public has been discussing the scandal between Jack Sparrow's leading man Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard, who publicly accused him of domestic violence. They sorted things out for a long time through the court, which ultimately found Depp innocent. The scandal significantly affected the careers of both: they lost many contracts. Amber Heard took her defeat in court hard: the actress said on social networks that this sets a bad precedent for all women who decide to report domestic violence. In addition, the actress faced harassment from Depp's fans.
Interestingly, McNally supported Depp on this issue. “I never saw a hint of the dark side in him. I saw a great humanitarian and a wonderful person. I don’t see any obstacles for him to come back and play Jack Sparrow again,” he told The Sun in 2021.
