Aerosmith returns for two Hollywood Bowl shows with Billy Idol, Slash and Run-D.M.C.
Aerosmith is coming out of retirement for two nights at the Hollywood Bowl, two years after the band said Steven Tyler's vocal recovery made touring impossible. "California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends" lands at the Los Angeles venue on October 29 and November 1, with a guest list that rotates each night. It is the band's first concert announcement since it called off touring in 2024.
The announced names read like a rock-and-rap roll call: the Black Crowes, Run-D.M.C., Heart, Andrew Watt, Billy Idol, Chad Smith, Duff McKagan, Eric Church, Jerry Cantrell, Marcus King, Mike Inez, Nuno Bettencourt, Pat Monahan, Sammy Hagar, Slash, Steve Stevens, Sully Erna, Tom Morello, Adam Wakeman, Audley Freed and Kenny Aronoff, among others. Music director Don Was confirmed more surprise appearances will be announced in the coming weeks, so the exact lineup could shift right up to show night.
A Citi cardmember presale opens October 8 at 10 a.m. PT, with additional presales leading into a general on-sale on October 10 at 10 a.m. PT. Final lineups will be revealed at or near showtime.
From farewell tour to a Hollywood comeback
Aerosmith never quite planned it this way. The band canceled its 2023 "Peace Out: The Farewell Tour" after Tyler fractured his larynx, and in August 2024 it declared a retirement from the road, saying his "recovery from his vocal injury is not possible." Two years later, that farewell has turned into a reunion.
"It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours," the band wrote in a social post at the time. Tyler kept singing in smaller moments afterward — a Grammy Awards watch party in February 2025, plus Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath's farewell concert that July — but these Bowl dates mark the proper return.
The reunion was teased earlier this week with a clip of Tyler on a ladder beside photographer Ross Halfin, affixing letters to the Hollywood Bowl sign. This marks a return to the stage for the band since the retirement news.
