The Beatles lead all-time Hot 100 No. 1s with 20 — full top-13 list
The Beatles are still the most dominant act in Billboard Hot 100 history. Through the chart dated Oct. 10, 2026, 1,195 songs have reached No. 1 out of the more than 32,000 that have ever appeared — and only 13 artists have ever scored 10 or more chart-toppers.
The Fab Four sit alone on top with 20 No. 1s, a position they have held since 1965, when they passed Elvis Presley for the record. Their 20 No. 1s span from "I Want to Hold Your Hand" in 1964 to "The Long and Winding Road" in 1970. Presley is conspicuously absent from the double-digit group: he logged seven Hot 100 No. 1s, and Billboard notes that several of his signature smashes — "Don't Be Cruel," "Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock" — predate the chart's Aug. 4, 1958 launch.

Of that elite 13, 11 are solo acts and only two are groups — The Beatles and The Supremes, whose dozen 1960s No. 1s make them the other band on the leaderboard. Drake and Rihanna are level at 14, helped by the two chart-toppers they share, "What's My Name?" and "Work." Michael Jackson's 13 stretch from "Ben" in 1972 to "You Are Not Alone" in 1995.
Mariah Carey is the closest challenger at 19, and "All I Want for Christmas Is You" has done serious heavy lifting with 22 total weeks at No. 1. Taylor Swift's total is moving fastest of anyone: "Patient Zero" debuted at No. 1 on the Oct. 10 chart, lifting her to 16.
Just outside the tier, Billboard lists nine No. 1s for the Bee Gees, Beyoncé, Elton John, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney (solo and with Wings) and Usher, and eight apiece for Justin Bieber, George Michael (excluding two billed only to Wham!) and The Rolling Stones.
