Kim Kardashian is demanding one euro in compensation for the Paris robbery.
Kim Kardashian has asked for one euro in compensation for a 2016 robbery in Paris in which more than $10 million worth of jewelry was stolen from the reality TV star.
On Monday, May 18, another trial began for the gang that robbed Kim Kardashian. As part of this trial, the blogger could have received compensation for emotional distress and the cost of jewelry that was never found, including Kardashian's 18.88-carat engagement ring, valued at $4 million.
However, the lawyer representing Kardashian in court stated that she insisted on one euro in compensation. Furthermore, the blogger's stylist, Simone Bretter, who was with her in the Paris hotel room during the robbery, supported Kardashian and also requested only one euro.
Meanwhile, the owners of the Parisian Hôtel de Pourtalès are demanding over $115,000 from the criminals for their ruined reputation. But the biggest demand from the robbers comes from the hotel's receptionist, Abderrahmane Ouatiqi, who was held at gunpoint on the night of the robbery and ordered to let the gang into Kardashian's room: he's demanding $638,000.
As a reminder, in October 2016, a gang of robbers broke into Kim Kardashian's hotel room and stole all the jewelry the blogger had brought with her to Paris. Three months later, all members of the gang were arrested. The trial of the robbers, dubbed the "Grandpa Gang" online due to the fact that almost all of the perpetrators were over 60 years old at the time of the attack, took place in 2025.
As Kardashian herself later admitted, her greatest fear during the robbery was that the criminals would kill her and leave her children, three-year-old daughter North and nine-month-old son Saint, motherless. At the time, the blogger was married to rapper Kanye West. After their divorce in 2022, Kardashian's ex-husband accused her of staging the robbery. In addition to their older children, the ex-spouses also have a daughter, Chicago, and a son, Psalm, born via surrogacy.
During the trial, the gang leader, Ait Hedash, wrote Kardashian a letter apologizing for his actions. In court, the blogger responded to his letter: "I appreciate your letter. I forgive you for what happened, but that doesn't change the emotions, feelings, and trauma that have forever changed my life." After the trial, all the robbers were released, each receiving a sentence less than the time they had already served in pretrial detention.
