Eminem's ex-wife was arrested for drunk driving.
Eminem's ex-wife (real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III), 51-year-old Kim Mathers (née Kimberly Ann Scott), who has had numerous run-ins with the law, was arrested for drunk driving and taken to the Macomb County Jail in Michigan. She appeared in court three days ago, TMZ reports. According to media reports, Mathers allegedly crashed a car near Detroit on Wednesday evening; no one was injured.
It's known that a court hearing was held on Monday for Kim's earlier charge: in February, she was involved in a similar accident—driving under the influence—while driving her son, Parker, and his friends shopping. Mathers crashed into a parked car and fled the scene, then drove through her own garage door. She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. At the same court hearing, Kim Mathers pleaded guilty.
Eminem and Kim Mathers' relationship has always been under intense public scrutiny. The couple met in 1988, when they were 15 and 13 years old. Before their official marriage, Eminem and Kim had a daughter, Hailie Jade, in 1995. They married four years later, but due to numerous scandals, fights, illegal substances, and infidelity, their marriage lasted only two years. During their separation, while Kim was struggling with drug addiction, she gave birth to a daughter, Stevie, from another man. Due to his ex-wife's problems, Eminem decided to take Stevie home with him and later adopted her. He and Kim also secured custody of her niece, Alaina. In 2006, the couple tried to rekindle their feelings and remarried for the sake of their three children, but the second marriage lasted only 82 days.
Today, the ex-spouses maintain a friendly and respectful relationship and are involved in raising their grandson, Elliot: their biological daughter, Hailey, gave birth to a son last March. Kim Mathers leads a private life in Michigan and struggles with depression. She also has a son, Parker Scott, whom she gave birth to after her divorce from the rapper was finalized.
