Charles III and Queen Camilla met with US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania
King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in the United States on a state visit and have already met with American President Donald Trump and his wife Melania.
For her meeting with the US President and First Lady, the Queen chose a white midi dress from designer Anna Valentine, who regularly collaborates with Camilla. Fans also spotted a brooch from Queen Elizabeth II's collection depicting the American and British flags. King Charles III wore a blue pinstripe suit with a pink tie.
Melania Trump wore a yellow skirt and jacket set designed by Adam Lippes to meet the King and Queen. The First Lady also wore snakeskin-print stiletto pumps by Manolo Blahnik. The US President chose a blue suit for the meeting, similar to the one worn by Charles III, but with a light blue tie.
The royal couple's visit, timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of US independence from Great Britain, began with tea in the White House's Green Room. The Trumps then invited Charles III and Camilla for a stroll through the garden. There, Melania showed the British king, who is a keen beekeeper, her famous honeycomb in the shape of the White House.
The royal couple's visit to the United States will last until Thursday, April 30. Charles III has several meetings and a state dinner at the White House scheduled ahead.
As a reminder, the King and Queen of Great Britain's trip was almost cancelled due to several scandals that erupted over the past week. On April 23, Prince Harry, the son of Charles III, who moved to the United States more than six years ago and has virtually no contact with his family, made an unscheduled visit to Ukraine. There, Harry directly addressed Donald Trump from the podium of the security summit in Kyiv, demanding assistance for Ukraine and an end to military action. The US president merely laughed it off, asking him to convey his regards to Harry and his wife, actress Meghan Markle.
Later, just a few days before the King and Queen's visit, an assassination attempt was made on Trump during a reception for the White House Correspondents' Association. The shooter, Cole Alley, missed the US President. However, this event prompted American concerns about security issues within the US leader's team. Many American publications were confident that the visit would be canceled, but Charles III and Camilla did arrive in the US: organizers merely scaled back their official program.
