Unknown substances found in Britney Spears' car
Unknown substances were found in Britney Spears' car, which was arrested the day before for drunk driving and has been sent for testing, TMZ reports.
According to a law enforcement source, the singer is suspected of driving under the influence of not only alcohol but also illegal substances. Her blood has been tested, and the results will be available soon. If the drug test is positive, the pop star could face a prison sentence.
Britney Spears's representative told People that the singer's sons, 20-year-old Sean Preston and 19-year-old Jaden Smith, are "deeply touched" by the news of her arrest and plan to visit her soon. "Her sons will be spending time with her. Her family will develop a plan to help her find her well-being," the singer's entourage reported.
The previous night, 44-year-old Britney Spears was arrested by police for drunk driving. Officers told the press that the star was "driving recklessly at a high rate of speed and exhibiting signs of intoxication." Following her arrest, she underwent "a series of field sobriety tests" and was then "arrested for violating the California Vehicle Code for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs." Spears was released from custody around 6:00 a.m. and is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.
Last fall, Britney Spears found herself in a similar situation. She drove drunk and nearly hit someone. The singer denied this, claiming her "double" was driving. Soon after, she was spotted on the streets of Los Angeles with a glass of champagne in hand.
As a reminder, Britney Spears, who has been married three times, has two sons with her second husband, Kevin Federline. Shortly after their divorce in 2008, the star suffered a nervous breakdown, after which she was placed under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears. He had complete control over her life and finances. It was only in 2021, thanks to fans, that the star was able to free herself from the conservatorship. After this, the singer began posting strange videos on social media and even became a meme, causing fans to worry about her well-being. Spears recently sold the rights to her songs for $200 million.
