"Show some fucking respect." Emily Ratajkowski criticized for a photo at a mosque and a twerk in a supermarket.
Emily Ratajkowski posted a series of new photos on social media that sparked outrage among the model's followers.
The first photo shows the 34-year-old model twerking in a supermarket wearing a sheer skirt, followed by a photo of her with her head covered in a mosque in Abu Dhabi. In the next photo, Ratajkowski poses with her T-shirt lifted, revealing her chest. In the fourth, she's strolling around the city with her son. In the fifth, she's sitting in a taxi wearing a tight top.
What most perplexed users wasn't the photos themselves, which are quite Ratajkowski-esque, but the caption underneath them. "New York Mamdani!" the model captioned the series, referring to the new mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani.
Zohran Mamdani became New York City's first Muslim mayor. On January 1 of this year, he took the oath of office on the Quran. This marks the first time in US history that a mayor has used the Muslim holy text to swear in his office. Mamdani is married to Rama Duvanji, a Syrian woman who has already been dubbed the Queen of Zoomers.
Users are outraged by Emily Ratajkowski's new photos, calling them disrespectful to Islam. "Emily, I like you, but the ratio between the first two slides is modestly disrespectful," "The second slide was taken at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, my home. I'm not religious and have always been a fan, but damn... Show some fucking respect," "This is disrespectful," "I understand why she's a single mom," "Why the hell is there a second slide after the first?", "How disgusting," "Your son will be proud," the users write.
Emily Ratajkowski recently found herself in hot water after attending Formula 1 in Abu Dhabi, where she was invited as a celebrity. She posted a post, marked as "sponsored," in which she posed with a head covering near the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. At the time, users were disappointed by the model's actions. They reminded Ratajkowski that she is known for her activism on human rights issues and her feminist views, and that she had allegedly stated that she would never travel to Arab countries because of human rights violations there.
