Mango founder and billionaire dies in accident
The founder of the Mango clothing chain and one of the richest businessmen in Spain, 71-year-old Isak Andic, died in the mountains while walking with his eldest son Jonathan.
The corporation called the incident an accident. "We regret to inform you of the unexpected death of Isak Andik as a result of an accident," the statement on its website read.
The incident occurred on December 14 in the mountains of Catalonia, near Barcelona, La Vanguardia reports. The publication cites the testimony of the businessman's companion. According to Jonathan, already on the last stretch of the route, he was walking ahead of Andik when he heard the sound of falling stones. Turning around, he saw his father falling from the mountain into a 150-meter gorge. It is known that Andik was a fan of the mountains and was fond of tourism.
According to the press, it is 43-year-old Jonathan who is expected to succeed Andik. The entrepreneur also leaves behind two adult daughters, Judith and Sarah.
Isak Andik founded Mango in 1984 together with his brother Nachman. The company, which has stores in more than 100 countries, currently has an estimated turnover of 3 billion euros. Andik, who at the time of his death held the position of chairman of the board of directors of the company, was worth 4.5 billion dollars. After the start of the SVO, Mango left the Russian market. The chain's stores were acquired by the company ARM.
