Cameron Diaz Reveals She and Husband Seek Therapy to Save Their Marriage
Cameron Diaz, who recently became a mother for the second time, revealed that she and husband Benji Madden are seeing a marriage therapist to save their marriage.
"Therapy is a big thing in our family, thank God. It's something we depend on because we have a commitment to work on it (the relationship. - Ed.)," the 52-year-old actress said in an episode of the Artist Friendly podcast.
She says that in a marriage, both spouses must work on the relationship with full dedication: "Even if you are angry and don't want to see each other, it [still has to be] 100% commitment to the marriage, the partnership and making the relationship work. If it's not 100%, it's just not going to work."
"Why didn't it work? How do I make it work? What is my role? What is the other person's job? Let's be mindful and come in a little more prepared next time so we can get a different result," Diaz explained.
Cameron Diaz and 45-year-old rock musician Benji Madden have been married for 10 years. It was the first marriage for both of them; Cameron was 43 years old at the time of the wedding. Four years later, the couple had a daughter, Raddix. A year before that, Cameron announced her retirement from film. In March 2024, the couple announced the birth of their son, Cardinal. A few months later, Diaz announced that she intended to return to the industry after a 10-year break. The couple rarely appear in public, do not go out together, and lead an isolated lifestyle: even the paparazzi can hardly photograph them together.
