Yura Borisov received the LA Film Critics Awards, which are called "a rehearsal for the Oscars"
Yura Borisov won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for his role in the film "Anora". The award is considered a "dress rehearsal" for the Oscars. Variety calls the Russian actor a likely contender for a nomination for the main film award.
"This (Borisov's victory at the Association's award - Ed.) promises good prospects for Borisov [at the Oscars]," the resource notes.
31-year-old Borisov received the award in the category of "Best Supporting Actor". The film "Anora" also received the main prize of the LA Film Critics Awards - in the nomination "Best Film", and, according to journalists, is also a contender for participation in the race for the "Oscar". "It seems that the film by Sean Baker, which [previously] won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, can reach the Dolby Theatre (at least to the nomination)," concludes Variety. The Oscar ceremony is held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Earlier, several Western publications reported that Borisov could be nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in the film "Anora". The actor himself admitted that for him the success of the film is comparable to "winning the Olympic Games". After the success of "Anora", Borisov became popular in the West. He met Angelina Jolie at the Toronto Film Festival, is filming for major magazines and giving interviews to the Western press. Despite the success, nothing is known about the actor's new projects abroad. Although his colleague on the set, Mark Eidelstein, has already received a major offer. He will play the lead role in the series "Mr. and Mrs. Smith".
