Before his death, Liam Payne terrorized his ex-girlfriend and threatened to "leak" her nude photos
The deceased former lead singer of One Direction Liam Payne terrorized his ex-girlfriend, 23-year-old model Maya Henry, and her family before his death, sending indecent photos and threatening to publish incriminating evidence on her - pornographic in nature. This was reported by the publication Page Six, which called the received materials "sensational".
According to the resource, just a week before the singer's death in Buenos Aires, Henry's lawyers sent a cease-and-desist notice to Payne's lawyer. This concerns the distribution of materials that included, among other things, "photographs of genitals and various videos in which Mr. Payne performs outrageous sexual acts on himself." The notice also accused Payne of intending to transfer compromising materials to third parties.
In September, Maya Henry, who dated Payne from 2018 to 2022, said that her ex-boyfriend obsessively stalks her even long after their breakup: "He sends me messages, blows up my phone, and not only from his number, but from other numbers, so I never know where to expect a call from," she said on social media.
In the October 14 podcast, the woman also said Payne allegedly used his addiction issues to try to manipulate her and threatened to kill himself: "He's always been texting me since we broke up... He's always been playing with death and being like, 'Well, I'm going to die. I'm not doing well.'"
After the musician's death, Maya faced bullying on social media. Many concluded that she was personally responsible for what happened to the singer. In addition, she was accused of trying to denigrate Liam, since after breaking up with him, she wrote a novel dedicated to the abusive relationship of the famous artist with an inexperienced girl - in the heroes, as Payne's fans decided, Maya portrayed herself and her ex-boyfriend.
The body of 31-year-old Payne was found lifeless under the windows of a hotel in Buenos Aires on October 17. The musician fell to his death from a third-floor balcony. A toxicology report showed that the singer was under the influence of drugs at the time of his death. Shortly before that, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, who accompanied the musician on the trip, left the country alone.
Local prosecutors have ruled out suicide: police believe that the artist may have driven himself unconscious with alcohol and drugs before his death and simply lost his footing. One of the hotel guests recalled that Liam smashed his laptop in the lobby after receiving a letter that apparently upset him. What was in the message remains a mystery, as the device has not yet been restored.
Three people have been charged in connection with the former boy band member's death, including a drug dealer and a hotel employee who may have supplied drugs to the singer. An unidentified friend of Payne's has been charged with endangering a person.
