Britney Spears' Old Video of Her Talking About Conservatorship for the First Time Is Making the rounds online
A 2016 video is making the rounds online, in which singer Britney Spears speaks for the first time about her conservatorship: after a nervous breakdown in 2008, her father Jamie Spears had complete control over her life for many years. In 2021, a court released the singer from conservatorship, after which she publicly accused her relatives of bullying her and total control.
In the video, Britney Spears appeared on the show while promoting her album Glory. "I'm under a conservatorship. I've been under a conservatorship for three years now, and I feel like a lot of what I did was planned. I thought, I want this [album] to be my baby," she said. However, the scene was ultimately cut from the final version, something Britney mentioned in her memoir.
Britney Spears was under her father's guardianship for 13 years. After her release, she claimed that her relatives had control over every aspect of her life, from managing her finances - about $60 million - to forcing her to have an IUD to prevent her from getting pregnant.
When the singer was under conservatorship, her fans united and demanded that she be released. However, after it finally happened, many decided that the decision to give Britney control of her own life may have been hasty: the singer has recently raised concerns with her behavior. For example, Britney often posts strange photos on Instagram*, including semi-nude ones, and people are afraid that she is not taking the pills she needs.
Earlier, Britney said that she "married herself." This is how she decided to respond to rumors about her possible marriage to her 38-year-old boyfriend Paul Richard Soliz, whom she began dating after her divorce from Sam Asghari. Their relationship can hardly be called calm: for example, after a quarrel with him, 42-year-old Britney Spears dislocated her leg, refusing medical help. In addition, Soliz has several convictions.
