"I just say to myself, 'Yeah, I'm a cannibal.'" Armie Hammer launches new podcast, jokes about sex scandal
Armie Hammer has announced the launch of a new podcast in which he will chat with guests in his studio and talk about how he is "picking up the pieces of his life."
"I'm not going to lie, I like the whole cannibal thing now. I just say to myself, 'Yeah, I am a cannibal,'" the actor said. He noted that the scandal has brought him attention. "What makes more noise? 'Armie Hammer is a cannibal' or 'Armie Hammer might not be a cannibal'?" He also said that "in this world," you can't completely restore your reputation after scandals. "Someone says something about you, everyone believes it, and then they move on with their lives."
According to Hammer, in the new project he will talk about his new life after the "cancellation", because of which he literally found himself broke.
"I'm going to open up my world to you a little bit. Some of you are going to love it and some of you are going to fucking hate it. I've been gone for the last four years and I came back and I was like, 'What are you going to do now?' So this is going to be kind of a journal or a chronicle of me putting my life back together again."
He also added that he was upset that many of his friends abandoned him, but he understands that they were forced to do so.
Armie Hammer, who is best known for his role in the film Call Me By Your Name with Timothée Chalamet, has said more than once that the cancellation and financial crisis made him reassess his life and realize that he wasn't living the life he wanted. "Someone could look at me and say, 'You're in a completely different place financially than you've ever been in your life.' I look at it and I'm like, 'Yeah, but you know, it made me realize that I don't need all of that because I'm happier than I've ever been in my life,'" the actor said.
The scandal surrounding Armie Hammer erupted three years ago. The reason was the leaked sex chats between the actor and women, with whom he talked about BDSM and other sexual practices, and also wrote them things that shocked them. Hammer himself was married at the time. Then other stories about the actor's sexual preferences began to appear online: among his preferences in bed were physical and psychological violence against women. He also dreamed of cannibalism, and he had a "pain room" at home. Hammer denied this, but later they found his secret Instagram account*, in which he discussed sex and drugs. Only after that did the actor make a public statement and admit his guilt. At the same time, he said that he did not rape women and everything was with their consent. Hammer later went to rehab for treatment for sex addiction. The actor was accused of sexualized violence, but they were later dropped.
