Cameron Diaz appeared in public for the first time in a long time and spoke about returning to cinema after a ten-year break
Cameron Diaz attended the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit in California. The 52-year-old actress spoke about her decision to take a long break from acting and her return to the screen.
The star of the film "The Holiday" arrived at the Ritz Carlton hotel, where the event was held, in a black closed blouse, wide trousers and loafers. The actress completed her look with gold earrings and pink lipstick.
One of the most successful Hollywood actresses suddenly decided to leave the cinema about ten years ago. Her last work was the film "Annie", which was released in 2014 and received mixed reviews from critics. In January 2015, Cameron married the lead singer of the rock band Good Charlotte Benji Madden and practically stopped appearing in public.
"It was something that I just had to do. It felt like the right thing to do to get my life back, and I just didn't care about anything else. No one's opinion, no one's success, no one's suggestion, nothing could change my decision to take care of myself and build the life that I really wanted to have," the star admitted at the summit.
The actress has spent the last ten years enjoying family life, raising her daughter Raddix, who was born in 2019, and her son Cardinal, who was born in March of this year. In addition, Cameron has not stopped working: she has written two books on health and in 2020, together with her partner Katherine Power, launched her own organic wine brand Avaline.
In 2022, it became known that Cameron Diaz is preparing to return to the screens. She has already starred in the Netflix action comedy Back in Action with Jamie Foxx, which will premiere in January 2025.
Cameron admitted that many did not believe that she would be able to return to Hollywood. The actress decided to start filming again soon after the pandemic, and her 45-year-old husband became her main support.
"People were like, 'It's over,' and I was like, 'No, it's not over, it's not over for me.' I had to push myself. My husband is the best, he was like, 'You've been supporting us, raising a family. It's time for us to support you and let mommy step up and do her thing.' He was like, 'Let me see you do it, baby.' I was like, 'No problem.'"
Diaz added that for the Netflix project, she "couldn't say no to Jamie Foxx. "He said, 'Come on with me,' and I was just like, 'Okay.' This is our third movie together, so I'm really excited." According to the Hollywood Reporter, Diaz will also lend her voice to the fifth Shrek film and is in talks to star opposite Keanu Reeves in the comedy The Downside.
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden were recently spotted out with their kids in Montecito.
