"It's unbearably painful to witness my son being publicly lynched." P. Diddy's mother complains about bullying against the rapper
The mother of P. Diddy, who has been arrested on charges including rape and human trafficking, has issued a statement through her lawyer to the Daily Mail calling for an end to the bullying of her son.
"I am writing to you today as a mother who is devastated and deeply saddened by the allegations made against my son, Sean Combs. It is heartbreaking to see my son being tried not for the truth, but for a story made up of lies," Janice Combs said in a statement.
"To witness my son's public lynching before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too excruciating to be put into words."
She noted that her son "made mistakes," including not admitting to abusing his ex-girlfriend, Cassie. She said the quick settlement of the lawsuit (Cassie dropped the case, citing the settlement) has left many people looking to get money from him. "The false accusations being leveled against him are motivated by those who seek financial gain, not justice. These people saw how quickly my son's civil legal team settled his ex-girlfriend's lawsuit, so they think they can make a quick buck by falsely accusing my son."
According to Janice, her son is not innocent, just like anyone else. "I'm not here to paint my son as perfect, because he is not. He has made mistakes in the past, just like we all have. My son may not have been completely honest about some things, like denying that he ever abused his ex-girlfriend, even though the hotel surveillance showed otherwise. Sometimes the truth and lies are so intertwined that it can be scary to admit even one part of the story, especially when that truth is out of line or too complex to believe."
She also added that the "false sexual abuse allegations" made against her son are preventing real victims of sexual abuse from getting the justice they deserve.
Sean Combs was arrested in September and charged with sex trafficking, fraud or coercion, and transporting sex workers. He has denied his guilt and wanted to be released on bail, but was denied. The scandal has left many of the stars who attended his famous parties worried about having to testify in court.
