Anne Hathaway to star in third installment of The Princess Diaries
Anne Hathaway will return to her role in the 2001 film “The Princess Diaries”. She officially announced on her social networks that there will be a third part of the film franchise.
"Miracles happen! Returning to Genovia with Disney. The fairy tale continues," the actress wrote.
Let us recall that the Princess Diaries franchise is based on a series of books by Meg Cabot about Mia Thermopolis, an ordinary American girl who unexpectedly learns that she is the princess of the kingdom of Genovia.
The new film will be directed by Adele Lim, who produced such series as One Tree Hill and Private Practice.
"As an avid fan of the original Princess Diaries, I am thrilled to be working on the third installment of this beloved franchise. We are looking forward to filming and bringing the core values of female empowerment, joy, and wisdom to audiences around the world," Lim was quoted as saying by The Hollywood Reporter.
The film's script will be written by Flora Greeson.
Earlier it became known that the film "The Devil Wears Prada" will receive a sequel 18 years later.
