Nicola Peltz, whose Chihuahua died after visiting a groomer, has been criticised for dyeing her dogs' fur bright colours
Nicola Peltz has come under fire for her new TikTok video. In it, the model showed one of her dogs, whose fur she dyed in bright colors: pink and orange. It later turned out that Nicola's other dog had undergone the same procedure - its photo was posted on social media by the girl's husband Brooklyn Beckham.
The act of 29-year-old Nicola caused a stir on the Internet. The fact is that many dog owners do not see anything wrong with decorating their pets in this way, but animal rights activists believe that this is very dangerous, even if gentle paint is used that does not contain toxic elements.
Dr Samantha Gaines, from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, told Metro.co.uk that such practices encourage pets to be treated as accessories rather than living beings. This could eventually lead to more serious interventions in the appearance of dogs or cats. “We are concerned that this type of grooming and the display of unusual hairstyles will lead some dog owners to forget that their pets are intelligent creatures and not just toys,” she said.
The criticism against Nicola is also related to the fact that her Chihuahua named Nala recently died after visiting a groomer. Peltz took the tragedy hard and even hired a team of lawyers to sue the grooming company, but this did not stop her from experimenting with the appearance of her dogs.
