'I felt ugly': Halsey reveals she couldn't look at herself in the mirror for months after a serious illness
Singer Halsey, who recently revealed she has a serious illness, admitted in an interview with Paper magazine that she couldn't look at herself in the mirror because she felt ugly. She previously spoke about her battle with lupus and leukemia.
"Sorry, I have something really hard and powerful to confess. I'm debating whether I should say this or not," Halsey began.
"I felt so damn ugly the whole time I was sick. I couldn't look at myself. I didn't look in the mirror for months, except when I had to get contact lenses," the singer admitted.
According to Halsey, the illness and long treatments greatly affected her appearance. "I was just unrecognizable. I didn't like looking at myself. It was horrible, and it drove me crazy."
Halsey recently found herself in the middle of controversy after she covered Britney Spears' Lucky, which is based on her life story. Spears even considered suing her, but later changed her mind.
Halsey has been out of the public eye for several years now. The singer suffered several miscarriages before becoming a mother: On July 14, 2021, Halsey gave birth to a son, Ender Ridley Aydin. The child's father is Turkish director and actor Alev Aydin.
