Winona Ryder says she was sexually assaulted at age 20
Actress Winona Ryder has admitted that she has been the victim of sexual harassment several times during her Hollywood career. The first time was when the actress was 20 years old. She spoke about this in an interview with Esquire magazine .
According to her, she had several episodes of harassment since her 20s, which she took quite hard. She did not name specific names, but said that it led to the fact that it was difficult for her to act in films. And then the harassment repeated itself when she was over 30. Then, during the filming of the movie "House of the Spirits", producer Harvey Weinstein, who is now in prison due to rape allegations, began to break into her trailer: "It was not an attack, it was just wild. I really sympathize with girls who have faced violence. I was just lucky because I was famous. But I remember very well that feeling when you negotiate with a person who behaves creepily."
The 52-year-old actress says she was blacklisted by Harvey Weinstein's Miramax. She doesn't know the exact reason, but she suggests he didn't like her because she "knew too much."
Now Winona Ryder presented the film "Beetlejuice" at the 81st Venice Film Festival - this film opened the festival. Winona walked the red carpet together with Monica Bellucci, Catherine O'Hara and Jenna Ortega.
Recall that in 2020, Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of committing five criminal offenses, despite the fact that more than 90 women publicly accused him of rape and harassment. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
