"This is an attack on my family." Blogger and most popular tradwife Hannah Neeleman spoke out about the hate directed at her
Blogger Hannah Neeleman, who runs the Ballerina Farm project and is considered one of the most famous tradwives (the name given to influencers who promote the image of a "traditional wife"), spoke out about the bullying and hate towards her family. The reason for this was an article in a certain publication that attracted the attention of users to her account. Neeleman did not name the publication, but an article about her was recently published in The Sunday Times.
"A couple of weeks ago, a reporter came to our home to find out more about our family and business. We thought the interview went well. However, we were stunned when we saw the article that was published. It shocked us and shocked the world in that it was an attack on my family and my marriage," Hannah said in a video posted to Instagram*.
She says she's not sure she identifies with being a tradwife: "As far as the 'traditional wife' label, I don't know if I identify with that."
The article describes Hannah as a "former beauty queen and ballerina" who got married and started her own blog. She is now a stay-at-home mom and blogs about life on her Utah farm. Hannah and her husband, Daniel, have eight children, ranging in age from a few months to 12 years old.
She calls herself and her husband "city dwellers turned ranchers." And Ballerina Farm is also the name of their farming business: they sell dairy products, meat, and more.
Hannah said the article portrayed her as "oppressed" and blamed her husband for it. "That's completely untrue," Hannah said. She said the tone of the article was set before they were interviewed.
Neeleman noted that she and her husband do everything together, and there is no one in charge. "We are both parents and CEOs, we clean the kitchen and the house together, and we make decisions together. We built a business together from scratch. We brought eight children into this world, and we always put our marriage first."
The trad wife trend has been discussed not so long ago. It has caused a great resonance on the Internet: some believe that this is the right movement that motivates women to devote themselves to family and home, others say that such propaganda of such a lifestyle undermines the progress achieved by women in relation to their rights and contributes to gender inequality. Thus, not so long ago another girl named Nara Smith was discussed on the Internet. In her blog, she shows how she runs a household (and does a lot with her own hands), and at the same time looks very well-groomed. According to critics, Nara creates the wrong image of a housewife, because an ordinary woman who takes care of the house often does not have the strength and time to take care of her appearance.
In the US, men have organized a whole movement, whose representatives go abroad in search of a trad wife. In their opinion, unlike American women, who are focused on a high standard of living and career achievements, women in other countries, for example, in Thailand, are brought up "to be wives."
