Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's eldest biological daughter, Shiloh, has published an announcement in The LA Times that she is officially renouncing her father's last name.
Shiloh's plans to change her last name became known back in May. It is worth noting that the girl hired her own lawyer and paid for his services herself - apparently to protect her mother from accusations that she influences her children's decisions.
A newspaper advertisement is a necessary step to complete the process. Under California law, a name change cannot be approved unless the petitioner has published an advertisement in a nationally circulated newspaper stating his or her decision. The advertisement states that anyone with objections may appear in court to state them. 
Earlier, a Daily Mail source said that Shiloh's decision was due to "a history of abuse and violations of the victim's rights." Recall that this spring, Angelina Jolie said that Brad Pitt used physical violence against her even before the infamous row on the plane that led to their divorce. However, that incident was the first time he also used violence against their children.
At the moment, Pitt has a complicated relationship not only with Shiloh, but also with his other children.
