Shannen Doherty Divorced Kurt Iswarienko Day Before Her Death
Actress Shannen Doherty finalized her divorce the day before her death. She signed the final papers on July 12, and her ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko did the same on July 13, the same day Shannen Doherty died, People reported.
According to court documents obtained by the publication, the actress signed a statement waiving alimony. She also agreed to "a default or uncontested divorce," meaning the former spouses completed the divorce process by mutual consent out of court. "The parties have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and rights to marriage or civil partnership, including alimony, the original of which is being or has been submitted to the court," the documents state.
For a long time, Iswarinko and Doherty could not agree on a divorce, but suddenly came to an agreement. It is unclear whether this is due to the fact that both already understood that Shannen Doherty would soon be gone.
Doherty and Iswarinko had been married since October 2011. Shortly before she was set to undergo complex brain surgery to remove a tumor, Shannen Doherty learned that her husband had been cheating on her for a long time. The Beverly Hills 90210 star filed for divorce in April 2023 after 11 years of marriage. In early June 2024, Shannen Doherty filed a lawsuit in court, demanding that her husband pay her about $15.5 thousand a month in alimony.
The actress said that due to the lack of work, she could soon lose her health insurance and livelihood: she accused her husband of continuing to live his own life, shirking his responsibilities to his dying wife. Doherty stated that her husband was spending money on private jet flights and entertainment at a time when she needed expensive treatment. In addition, she believed that her ex-husband was not signing divorce papers in order to receive her inheritance.
Kurt Iswarinko's attorney denied the allegations, insisting that Iswarinko wanted "the best for Shannen and wants both of them to be able to put this matter behind them and move on."
Before this, the actress was married twice: to actor Ashley Hamilton and to poker player Rick Salomon, who was also once married to Pamela Anderson and became famous for his scandalous sex tape with Paris Hilton in 2004.
