Two women have accused writer Neil Gaiman of sexual assault.
Two women are accusing 63-year-old writer Neil Gaiman, known for such books as American Gods, Coraline, and Good Omens, co-authored with Terry Pratchett, of sexual assault.
According to the Tortoise podcast, he assaulted one of them a few hours after they met: she was about 20 years old, and he was about 40. She filed a police report, but no charges were brought against him. At that time, the writer was married, but they were in an open marriage. The second girl got a job as a nanny for him, and they had sex that same day. The girl was 22 years old at the time, and he was 61. Gaiman himself denies violence against her, but admits that he kissed her in the bathroom.
Both women say they were subjected to painful and "humiliating" sexual encounters. His fan, whom he dated for three weeks, claims she "never wanted sex but felt obliged to have it." He also abused her when she suffered from a urinary tract infection and found sex painful, and once choked her until she passed out.
In the podcast, the girl notes that she wrote him messages thanking him for the time they spent together. According to her, she found herself in a psychological trap. "In the end, he made me feel like it was consensual. But it wasn't consensual. He kind of lured me into his psychological labyrinth, so to speak. So it wasn't easy at all."
Both women claim he asked them to call him "master." Neil Gaiman denies the allegations and claims they engaged in "consensual BDSM." New Zealand police are currently investigating.
Last year, Neil Gaiman spoke about sex in an interview with The Guardian: "The nice thing about being over 60 is that all sex is good sex. When you have sex, you think, 'Great, oh my god, I can still do this.'"
