Broken ribs and the feeling of being strangled: Celine Dion told how her illness manifests itself
A trailer has been released for Celine Dion's upcoming interview on the Today show, in which the singer talked about how her illness, stiff muscle syndrome, manifests itself. This disease of the central nervous system causes progressive muscle stiffness, often turning patients into a “living statue.”
“When I try to sing, it feels like someone is choking me. It’s like someone is pressing on my throat,” Celine shared.
According to her, her condition is accompanied by spasms in various parts of her body, which are so strong that once because of this, the singer even broke her ribs: “It can be in the abdomen, in the spine, in the ribs. It seems that if I put my foot , then it will get stuck in this position. Or the same thing can happen to my fingers or hands when I cook. It's like the spasms are blocking my body."
In the comments to the interview trailer on the Today YouTube channel, many supported Celine. At the same time, some Internet users note that it is noticeable how the disease affected the singer.
Celine Dion was diagnosed with stiff muscle syndrome in 2022. The disease progressed, which is why the singer was forced to cancel her world tour. The artist recently posed topless for the cover of Vogue and said that every day she works to “accept” her illness and learn to “manage” it.
