Madonna gave the biggest concert of her career, performing in front of 1.6 million people on Copacabana Beach
Madonna wrapped up her world tour, The Celebration, which kicked off in October 2023, with a massive free concert on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.
According to the city hall, the show attracted about 1.6 million viewers and became the most visited in the singer’s entire career. Before this, Madonna's most attended show was a concert in Paris in 1987, which was attended by 130 thousand spectators.
Rio prepared for the pop diva's performance for several days. As reported by AP, back in April, the mayor's office of the Brazilian capital prepared a report according to which Madonna's concert was expected to bring about $57 million to the local economy. According to the city's hotel association, hotel occupancy was expected to be 98%.
Despite the scorching sun, the artist's fans waited for hours for her to appear on stage in order to take better seats; the sandy Copacabana beach turned into a huge dance floor. Some watched the show from their boats, while others watched the show from the windows of their apartments overlooking the ocean. Firefighters sprayed water in front of the stage when temperatures exceeded 30 degrees Celsius, and free drinking water was distributed.
Madonna's guests at the final show were Anitta and Pablo Vittar. The singer performed her main hits, such as Like a Prayer, Vogue, Frozen and others, and also changed several costumes - one of the most memorable images was a black outfit combined with a bright green balaclava.
Recently, Madonna and Guy Ritchie's son Rocco painted a portrait of his parents.
